Avistrum Academy of Sorcery

The AVISTRUM ACADEMY OF SORCERY is back!

MileHiCon is once again proud to announce the inclusion of THE AVISTRUM ACADEMY OF SORCERY to the activities available during the weekend. To attend both MileHiCon and Avistrum events a fee of $60 adult, $34 child for the weekend will be charged. A limit of 100 sorcery students may attend Avistrum events, so purchase your memberships today.  

The Avistrum Academy of Sorcery is an interactive theatrical experience where YOU become part of the story! Throughout the weekend the show will include: 

  • The Sorting Ceremony
  • Interactive Storyline
  • Full Class Schedule
  • Dark Wizard's Ball
  • Quidditch Tournament on the Playstation 2!
  • House Points Given (or taken away!)
  • Awarding of the House Cup

At MileHiCon’s Literacy Auction you can bid on rare books, autographed books, original artwork, collectibles, SF, fantasy and horror items generously donated by guests and fans alike.

All proceeds are given to a charity for the purchase of books and reading education. Every year your donations have been fantastic.

If you have brought items with you for the auction please drop them off in the ART Show before 2 pm on Saturday. You must COMPLETE A DONATION CARD FOR EACH ITEM. This is used by the auctioneer to describe the item to the audience and let potential buyers make decisions about bidding, as well as insuring that you get the tax benefit.

The Literacy Auction will take place in Main Events (Grand Mesa ABC) on Saturday night during masquerade judging. Items donated for the auction will be displayed in the Art Show until the auction takes place. Items may be picked up immediately after the conclusion of the auction at the Art Show. Items must be paid for before the buyer takes possession. (Cash, Checks and credit cards accepted.) Any items not claimed and paid for on Saturday night will be presumed abandoned and may be re-auctioned at the Art Auction on Sunday.

And, as always, there will be more cool stuff that comes in after press time… be sure to check out the display of Literacy Auction items in the Art Show on Friday and Saturday.

One of the most fun traditions at MileHiCon is the CosPlay Contest (Masquerade). We will again have an excellent light and sound setup, experienced stage staff, and all kinds of help for both the experienced and inexperienced costumers.

NOTE: Additional forms will need to be completed in person at the convention, you MUST check-in at the Masquerade table in the Second-floor atrium on Saturday between 10am and 2pm to participate.

MileHiCon Mix, Munch, and Mingle

On Friday night at 8pm the MileHiCon Mix, Munch, and Mingle, or "MMMM" for short, will take place. MMMM is a great way to meet our Guests of Honor, as well as other authors, artists, and fans attending the convention. Various munchies and hors d'oeuvres prepared by the Hyatt's gourmet chefs will be served. A very modest fee of only $5 ($6 at the door) will be charged for the food.
