Volunteering

Do volunteers pay to attend the convention?

Volunteers are all paying members of the convention, but the rewards they receive keep many of our volunteers and staff returning time and time again. The primary reward is a staff t-shirt after your first 8 hours. For every hour you put in for the show past the 8, not only have you earned our gratitude (undying in some cases), but you earn raffle tickets for the end of show raffle held for the volunteers at the dead dog party late on Sunday night. For folks who want to volunteer but have less than 8 hours to dedicate, we happily let you put your hours towards tickets rather than a shirt! As long as you turn your hours in and provide contact information, you'll receive your prizes whether or not you're able to attend the raffle.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to get involved with the show and meet various new people. It's also a great way to figure out if there's a particular department you like and find out if there's room on department staffs in the future. Many volunteers have come back and told us great stories about meeting favorite authors, future spouses, or just incredibly wild tales about what happened to them through volunteering!

I am only interested in volunteering for a specific department, how do I do that?

By contacting the head of that department directly. If you don't know how to do so, you are welcome to inquire at volunteers@milehicon.org and we'll get you to the right folks!
